Torrevieja owes his name to an Old Tower (Torre Vieja) of Watchtower, formerly sited in the vicinity of the “Eras de la Sal” or Salt Flats. A salt centre since the remotest antiquity, its first urban settlement dates from the 18^th Century, although it began to develop as from 1802, the date on which the administration of the Royal Saltworks, until then located in La Mata, was transferred to Torrevieja. In 1931 it obtained a city charter, granted by King Alfonso XIII.

With its long maritime tradition and its privileged climate and beaches, it has become a leading tourist destination.

Church of the Immaculate Concepción

Originally erected in 1798, it was rebuilt in the year 1844 using ashlars or block of stone from the Old Tower near the “Eras de la Sal”, which had fallen into ruin after the earthquakes that had destroyed the city.

The church is built in neoclassical style. Inside, the traditional Latin cross ground plan is roofed over with barrel vaults with lunnetes in the central nave and groin-vaults in the transepts. It also possesses some fine images, particularly that of the immaculate Concepcion in the central niche of the altarpiece. It main façade is simple and sober, a prominent feature being the two bell towers topped by pyramidal figures.

Parish Church of the sacred heart of Jesus

Inspire, by the old shrine that existed on this same square, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is longitudinal in direction. The main entrance lies at the foot of the church, although there are two entrances to the main space on the sides. It comprises a single nave, measuring a width of 16 meters and a maximum height of 19 meters, with several side chapels and service quarters on both sides of the central space. The main area  of the church, the altar, stands at the end of the nave, with a great window above it. It is a church that seats almost 1.000 people, as well as sacristy, choir area for 92 people, 11 multi-purpose rooms with a capacity of 150 people, parish hall. Parish home, font, confessionals, noble elements, lighting, PA system, belfry with bell and weather vane, natural lightsing with stained glass windows, toilets and cleaning rooms and zoned and variable air conditioning. It has a large green area around the church building, a paved area around the church building, a paved area and undergruound parking for nearly 500 vehicles

Torrevieja, una ciudad costera situada al sur de la Comunidad Valenciana, está rodeada por dos grandes y hermosas lagunas naturales de agua salada, que forman la “Lagunas Mata y Torrevieja de la” Parque Natural. Ambas extensiones de agua, de valor ecológico reconocido, ocupan más de la mitad del término municipal para crear un microclima especialmente saludable.

Torrevieja debe su nombre a una antigua torre  vigía, anteriormente situada en las proximidades de la “Eras de la Sal” o salinas. Un centro de sal desde la más remota antigüedad, el primer asentamiento urbano data del siglo 18, a pesar de que comenzó a desarrollarse a partir del 1802, la fecha en que se transfirió la administración de la Salina Real, hasta entonces ubicados en La Mata, a Torrevieja. En 1931 obtuvo una carta de la ciudad, otorgado por el rey Alfonso XIII.

Con su larga tradición marítima y su clima privilegiado y sus playas, se ha convertido en un destino turístico de primer orden.

Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción

Originalmente construida en 1798, fue reconstruida en el año 1844 el uso de sillares o ladrillos de piedra de la Torre Vieja, cerca de la “Eras de la Sal”, que había caído en  ruina después de los terremotos que destruyeron la ciudad.

La iglesia es de estilo neoclásico. En el interior, la planta de cruz latina tradicional esta techada con bóvedas de cañón con lunnetes en la nave central y bóvedas de arista en los cruceros. También posee algunas imágenes , en particular la de la Inmaculada Concepción en la hornacina central del retablo. Se fachada principal es sencilla y sobria, una característica destacada son los dos campanarios rematados por figuras piramidales.

Iglesia Parroquial del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús

La entrada principal se encuentra a los pies de la iglesia, aunque hay dos entradas al espacio principal en los laterales. Consta de una sola nave, de una anchura de 16 metros y una altura máxima de 19 metros, con varias capillas laterales y cuarto de servicio a ambos lados del espacio central. El área principal de la iglesia, el altar, se encuentra al final de la nave central, con una gran ventana por encima de ella. Es una iglesia que tiene capacidad para casi 1.000 personas, así como la sacristía, zona de coro para 92 personas, 11 salas multiusos con capacidad para 150 personas, salón parroquial. Parroquia, fuente, confesionarios, elementos nobles, iluminación, megafonía, campanario con campana y veleta, lightsing natural con vidrieras, aseos y cuartos de limpieza y aire acondicionado zonificado y variable. Dispone de una gran zona verde alrededor del edificio de la iglesia, una zona pavimentada en todo el edificio de la iglesia, una zona pavimentada y aparcamiento undergruound por casi 500 vehículos

Interviewing Nuria Jiménez, General Manager of Patrimi Resorts S. L.

Q: Nuria, taking into account your experience as general manager in real estate development, how do you see the current map of the real estate sector in an international and a national level?

A: Currently, the damage sector of the Spanish real estate starts to show signs of reactivation and the idea of start buying properties arises. Recently, it has been published the results of the Consumer Confidence Indicator (ICC) from the Sociologic Investigation Centre (CIS) of April. Up to 3,6% of interviewed people are considering acquiring a house next year. In my opinion, it is small indications of reactivation and overall a confidence recovering at national level, although there is still a lot to take off to affirm that the sector is enjoying again of a good estate.

Regarding the international market, it is seen a market niche more receptive. Patrimi Resorts has observed, during over 30 years of experience, a change in the nationalities interested in investing in the Costa Blanca and in the kind of product that is been demanded.

Q: In your opinion, how has experienced Patrimi the changes in the sector in the last 30 years?

A: the real estate developer sees, in the evolution of the activity of the company, four important periods: the stage previous to the 90’s, characterized by a steady market that was shared by the national and international market. The stage of 2001 with the Twin Towers attacks and the beginning of the property bubble in 2003, where it was experienced and important fall of the prices and an important increase of the bag of the houses in the banks. The stage of the beginning of the 90’s until the begging of the crisis in 2006, which has been defined by the rise of the national market and the predominance of the British market. Finally, the stage from 2008 / 2009, where we can appreciate the importance of the Nordic market (Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Danish) and Netherlands (Belgium and Holland). It is true that it has been seen weaken up Russian and Algerian market.  

Q: From Patrimi’s view point, what kind of product has a niche in the current market?, according to your experience.

A: From Patrimi point of view, the experience drives us to the conclusion that it is no longer about selling a developed product, such it happened in pas times, but about creating a specific product for each client. Nowadays, customers are looking for a product with an added value, that helps to recover customers confident and a product that offer more than a property to live in.

Q: and in your opinion, how has Patrimi adapted to this kind of demand?

Entrevista a Nuria Jiménez, Directora de Operaciones de Patrimi Resorts S. L.

P: Nuria, teniendo en cuenta sus años de experiencia en el sector como gerente de operaciones inmobiliarias, ¿Cómo ve el mapa actual en el sector inmobiliario a nivel nacional e internacional?

R: Actualmente, el dañado sector inmobiliario español comienza a mostrar pequeños indicios de reactivación y surge el planteamiento de realizar una compra inmobiliaria. Recientemente, se ha publicado los resultados del Indicador de Confianza del Consumidor (ICC) del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) del mes de abril, hasta un 3,6% de las personas entrevistadas baraja la posibilidad de adquirir una casa durante el próximo año. En mi opinión, se trata de pequeños indicios de reactivación y sobre todo de recuperación de la confianza a nivel nacional, aunque todavía falta mucho para poder afirmar que el sector vuelve a disfrutar de un buen estado.

Con respecto al mercado internacional, se observa un nicho de mercado algo más receptivo. Patrimi Resorts ha observado, a lo largo de los más de 30 años de experiencia, un cambio en las nacionalidades interesadas en invertir en la Costa Blanca y en el tipo de producto que demandan.

P: En su opinión, ¿Cómo ha vivido Patrimi los cambios del sector en los últimos 30 años?

R: La promotora inmobiliaria aprecia, en la evolución de la actividad de la empresa, cuatro periodos importantes: la etapa previa a los años 90, caracterizada por un mercado estable, repartido entre el mercado nacional e internacional. La etapa de 2001 con los acontecimientos de las Torres Gemelas y el inicio de la burbuja inmobiliaria en 2003, donde se produjo una importante caída de precios y un aumento importantísimo de la bolsa de viviendas en los bancos. La etapa de los años 90 hasta el inicio de la crisis sobre 2006, marcado por subida del mercado nacional y el predominio del mercado británico. Por último, la etapa a partir de 2008 / 2009, donde se aprecia el protagonismo del mercado Nórdico (suecos, noruegos, finlandeses y daneses) y los Países Bajos (Bélgica y Holanda). Aunque es cierto que se ha visto despertar al mercado ruso y argelino.

Dentro de la situación actual del sector, en la que el mercado nacional se mantiene prácticamente inactivo y comienza a mostrar una tímida confianza y en la que el mercado internacional (preferentemente nórdico) parece ser el nicho más viable, las empresas del sector se plantean cómo mantener y atraer la atención de potenciales clientes hacia su producto.

P: Desde el punto de vista de Patrimi, ¿cuál es el producto que tiene cabida en el mercado actual?, según su experiencia.

R: Desde el punto de vista de Patrimi, la experiencia nos conduce a la conclusión de que no se trata tanto de vender cualquier producto construido, tal y como ocurría en la época de épocas anteriores, si no de crear un producto específico para cada cliente. Se trata de un producto con valor añadido, que trata de recuperar la confianza del cliente y que ofrece mucho más que una propiedad para residir en ella.

P: y en su opinión, ¿cómo se ha adaptado Patrimi a este tipo de demanda?

During the Bando de la Huerta festivity, the Murcian people take the streets wearing traditional garments of Murcia Region. Costumes with Morisco influences that include item such as “refajo” (for women), “zaragüelles” (for men) and these clothes stand out for its embroidery and ornaments.

The streets, squares and public gardens get full of people dancing and eating typical Murcia dishes and food such as michirones, Murcia salad, zarangollo o morcillas, salchichas, longanizas, habas and paparajotes. Furthermore, in the most popular location of the city it is plenty of “barracas”, little stands with food where you can taste traditional Murcia gastronomy. All this rejoicing, people parade, bustle of people eating and drinking is liven up with folk actuations.

During the Bando de la Huerta day there are different activities. The celebrations starts with mass and a

parade, afterword, in the afternoon, it takes place a popular parade where it is shown professions and typical elements for working at the orchard and the rural areas. The parade is splashed with music and giants.

Origins of the Bando de la Huerta:

Esta conmemoración que llena las calles oriolanas de pintura, hermanamiento y reivindicación tiene su origen en ma
yo de 1976. En esta fecha pintores, escritores y músicos de diferentes pueblos de España se desplazaron hasta Orihuela para reivindicar la figura y obra del insigne poeta Miguel Hernández, originando lo que se consideró como una “primavera cultural”.

Dentro de un contexto de transición incierto y difícil, se reclamaba la libertad de la que hasta entonces se había carecido para defender las libertades democráticas y la cultura como expresión más elevada del espíritu de un pueblo.

De acuerdo a la tradición cristiana, el viernes de Cuaresma y el Miércoles de Ceniza debe regir el ayuno y la abstinencia de cualquier tipo de alimento durante todo el día hasta llegar al Viernes Santo donde la abstinencia sólo será de alimentos preparados con carne.

Aunque esta festividad ha ido evolucionando a lo largo de los años, la gastronomía sigue siendo uno de los pilares de esta celebración.  Los platos típicamente ligados a la Semana Santa de la Costa Blanca son:

BUÑUELOS DE BACALAO

Plato tradicional elaborado a partir de bacalao. El bacalao ha sido el pescado más utilizado en los guisos tradicionales, sobre todo en épocas en las que no había los adelantos de conservación. Los buñuelos de bacalao incorporan huevo y algo de bicarbonato para que queden esponjosos, y su rico sabor se completa con perejil, ajo y cebolletas.

POTAJE

Plato elaborado con legumbres (normalmente habichuelas y garbanzos) y verdura (típicamente acelgas). Se trata básicamente de un guiso hecho con legumbres al que se le añade un sofrito y queda con gran cantidad de caldo, pero no llega a ser una sopa. Otros ingredientes que puede incorporar son cebolla, ajo, tomate y pimiento.

SOPAS DE AJO

Se trata de uno de los platos más humildes y famosos de la gastronomía de la Costa Blanca y la española en general. Los principales ingredientes de este manjar son: ajos, pan, pimentón, agua y un poco de jamón. Es un plato totalmente asociado a las procesiones y la cuaresma.

El Parque lo componen dos lagunas separadas entre sí por un anticlinal llamado “El Chaparral”. Dentro del Parque se pueden contemplar numerosos observatorios de aves, realizar una visita guiada al parque o simplemente dar un paseo y disfrutar de una botella de vino rodeados de un entorno inigualable.
