Our amazing climate means we can play golf all year round, providing an additional tourism attraction for the province of Alicante. Proof of the high quality and great condition of all the golf courses in Alicante are the many national and international tournaments held here.

The wide and varied range of places to play golf includes 18-hole courses, 9-hole courses and “pitch and putt”. Some courses are easy, others are more complex and full of challenges, but they all take pride in looking after players and they are all in spectacular settings.

Map of the top golf courses in Alicante

We’ve drawn up a personalised map showing the best golf courses in the province of Alicante. As you can see, most of the golf courses are very close to the coast and are within easy reach of the main towns and Alicante-Elche airport (El Altet airport). Your favourite sport of golf is only a short drive away, next to the Mediterranean Sea in the wonderful setting of the Costa Blanca.

Villamartín Golf Course (Orihuela Costa)

Villamartín Golf Course was designed by the famous Paul Putman. It’s only two kilometres away from the Mediterranean, between the municipal area of Torrevieja and the province of Murcia. San Javier airport is barely twenty minutes by car from the golf course, and Alicante-Elche airport is under an hour’s drive away.

The golf course has a par of 72 and a length of 6,005 metres. In 1994 it hosted the Mediterranean Open golf tournament, in which Spanish player José María Olazábal Manterola won after a hard-fought battle with Paul McGinley, who was in the lead until the 17th hole.

La Finca Golf Course (Algorfa)

From Alicante airport it’s barely 40 minutes by car to La Finca golf course. Take the A-37 (Alicante – Cartagena motorway) and leave the road at exit 743 towards Algorfa. When you reach the town, turn left towards Los Montesinos and drive three kilometres until you reach the golf course.

La Finca Golf Course has well-established landscaped grounds that are home to a wide range of wildlife, including rabbits, hares and other completely harmless animals. Like Villamartín Golf Course, it has 18 holes and a par of 72.

Real Club de Golf Campoamor (Orihuela Costa)

Real Club de Golf Campoamor was opened in 1988 by Don Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona. Its fantastic location 9 kilometres south of Torrevieja allows golfers to get there in less than an hour from both Alicante airport and from Región de Murcia international airport.

This golf course also has a par of 72 and 18 holes. The fairways are wide and surrounded by small humps that protect them from the wind.

Las Ramblas de Orihuela Golf Course

Las Ramblas de Orihuela Golf Course (Orihuela Costa) was opened in 1990 and designed by José Gancedo. The mountainous golf course, with its considerable obstacles, makes getting round an interesting challenge.

Like the courses described above, this golf course has 18 holes and a par of 72. On the fairways the grass is Bermuda and the grass on the greens is Penncross.

La Marquesa Golf & Country Club (Rojales)

This golf course was opened in 1989 and named Quesada Golf Club after its founder, designer Justo Quesada Samper. In 1994 its name changed to the one it’s known by today, La Marquesa Golf & Country Club. It was the first golf club to be built in the province of Alicante, so many of us golf enthusiasts can remember our early days playing our favourite sport at this club.

From Alicante-Elche airport it’s just over half an hour by car to La Marquesa. It’s only 500 metres from Rojales town centre.

Alicante Golf (Playa de San Juan)

Alicante Golf is in Playa de San Juan, on Avenida Locutor Vicente Hipólito 37. It’s only 12 minutes by car from El Altet airport to the golf course.

Alicante Golf was designed by famous professional golfer Severiano Ballesteros Sota, acclaimed as one the greatest players in history. He was the first European to win the Masters tournament in Augusta, and the youngest ever to win it back then. He was also the first non-British player to win the British Open Golf Championship.

Villaitana Wellness Golf & Business Sun Resort (Benidorm)

The Villaitana Wellness Golf & Business Sun Resort has changed its name from the previous one of Real de Faula Golf Club. This golf course has opted for joining two golf courses together: one professional golf course 6,612 metres in length and another 3,858 metre-long executive golf course. The complex was designed by Nicklaus Design, the company founded and managed by US golfer Jack Nicklaus.

A major tourist city like Benidorm also had to have its own golf course. Facing the Mediterranean Sea and with the Finestrat mountain range as backdrop, it’s a mixture of wide, easy fairways and routes packed with challenges for players to tackle. The Levante Championship course has 18 holes and a par of 72, and the Poniente Executive course has 18 holes but with a par of 62.

El Plantío Golf Club (Alicante)

El Plantío Golf Club is very close to the city of Alicante. It’s less than 10 minutes by car from Alicante-Elche Airport and from the provincial capital. And Santa Pola is only 15 minutes away.

The golf course joined the Federation in 1997 and has well-established landscaping. It has a total of 18 holes with a par of 72 plus another 9 holes with a par of 36. There are no buildings in the way anywhere on the course.

Don Cayo Golf Course (Altea)

Don Luis Campomanes Asumendi was the founder of Don Cayo Golf Course and it was opened in 1974. It’s 3,078 metres long with 9 holes and a par of 36. It was designed by Pedro Barber and Gregorio Sanz in 1972.

Don Cayo Golf Course is in the tourist town of Altea, in the Sierra de Bernia mountains, less than an hour’s drive from the airport.

Puig Campana Golf (Finestrat)

The Puig Campana Golf is located just before reaching the town of Finestrat, just half an hour from Alicante Elche Airport, and less than thirty minutes from the Puig Campana from which it takes its name. A nine-hole golf course that boasts of being a hard, demanding and difficult course, designed for golfers who want to face interesting sporting challenges.

Next to the golf course we have raised Finestrat, a new construction housing promotion so that you can practice your favorite sport a few meters from your new house.

Jávea Golf Club

Jávea Golf Club was designed by Francisco Moreno and opened in 1981. It’s set in a pine forest so the terrain is full of lumps and bumps, and it’s famous among golfers for the 34 bunkers dotted around the course. The wind blowing in from the Cabo de San Antonio headland adds an extra degree of difficulty and challenge for players to tackle.

Jávea golf course is one hour from the airport. Follow the road from Jávea to Benitatxell until you get to kilometre 45 in the Rafalet district.
